Florida: Cross Seminole Trail
Posted on Wednesday, May 03 @ 23:24:51 CDT by iljiana

Horse Rentals & Day Ride Trails Central Florida
Seminole County Public Works
Trails Maintenance (407) 869-5966
Trails Planning (407) 665-7352

The Cross Seminole Trail is a paved recreational trail that has been designated as one of Seminole County’s Showcase Trails because of its length, beauty and accommodations for various users. The trail has also been designated as part of the Florida National Scenic Trail. Much of the trail corridor is heavily vegetated, providing a peaceful and picturesque experience for an urban trail. Currently, the trail runs from Winter Springs to Oviedo. The trail will eventually connect with the Seminole-Wekiva Trail creating a 30 mile continuous trail through Altamonte Springs, Longwood, Lake Mary, Winter Springs, and Oviedo, and with the Cady Way Trail and the Orange County Trails System.

Trail Length/Surface: 3.7 miles (non-motorized paved trail) open as of March 2002
Fee: None
County: Seminole
Nearby Towns: Winter Springs, Orlando

Notes: The trail is a component of the Florida Trail and is certified as Florida National Scenic Trail. When you reach either end of the paved segment, the trail continues as an unpaved corridor for hikers on the Florida Trail. The Florida Trail Association (FTA) produces a detailed hiking guide and segment-by-segment maps which are very useful for hiking the Florida Trail. For more information on the Florida Trail or FTA, visit their website at
Be sure to visit Seminole County’s informative website for details regarding this and other trails. See web address below.

Black Hammock Trailhead
From Downtown Orlando, take the East-West Expressway toll road to SR 417 (the Central Florida Greeneway – toll road). Follow SR 417 north to SR 434. Exit on SR 434 and take a left, heading west for about 750 feet. The trailhead is on the left.

From Winter Springs, take SR 434 toward Oviedo. Just prior to reaching SR 417 (the Central Florida Greeneway), the trailhead will be on the right.
