Hollywood Park, which conducted its first race meet in 1938, enjoys one of the richest traditions
in American racing. The track, located in Inglewood, CA, was acquired by Churchill Downs, Inc.
in September 1999. It has been the site of some of the most memorable performances in racing history.
The Grade 1 Hollywood Gold cup is the signature race at Hollywood Park, which has hosted the Breeders’
Cup three times---including the inaugural running of racing’s Championship Day in 1984. Other important
graded stakes include the American Oaks, the Hollywood Futurity, the Swaps, the Hollywood Starlet, the
Hollywood Turf Cup, the Shoemaker, the Whittingham, the Gamely, the Beverly Hills and the Triple Bend.
Hollywood Park conducts two race meets each year: the spring/summer meet runs from late April through
mid-July and the autumn meet runs from
mid-November through late December.
